Twenty-five years deserves something back
You don’t get to run a business for twenty-five years without other people lifting you. Customers who took a chance on us when we were three people round a kitchen table. Suppliers who held the line when cashflow was tight. Charities and community groups whose work made the part of the world we live in better.
This is the part of the site where we say thank you, and where we tell you what we’re doing about it.
25 in 25
Twenty-five projects in the year of our twenty-fifth birthday. Twenty-five hospices, care organisations, charities and community groups getting free or heavily-discounted help to make their websites work harder. Some of those projects are full audits. Some are rebuilds. Some are an afternoon of training for a volunteer who’s been keeping the lights on.
We pick the projects in two ways. We approach causes our team has a personal connection to, and we open applications quarterly to organisations that want to be considered. If you know a cause that should be on the list, the form at the bottom of this page is the place.
Where the time goes
We ringfence one Friday a month per team member, plus an annual day everyone takes together. Senior team members put in additional time when a project needs it. The total comes to roughly 1,200 hours a year of charitable work.
How we choose
We focus on three areas. They are the areas where we’ve seen the biggest gap between what charities deserve and what they get from the digital sector.
- Community and care organisations. Local groups whose websites are the first thing a referrer or a worried family member looks at.
- Hospices and end-of-life care. Donation journeys, volunteer recruitment, family information.
- Smaller charities under £1m turnover. Sites that work properly, training, and an honest answer about what to spend money on.
